Ranasinghe Premadasa was killed by suicide bomber BABU on 1st may 1993 while the late President was attending the May Day rally at Armour Street. Babu worked for late President Premadasa and was a very trusted employee. There were many stories regarding how Babu came to work for late President Premadasa. There was a story that Babu was introduced to Late President by one of his trustworthy friends and Babu worked at the Sucharitha (some used to call it ASUCHIYA due to some unknown reasons) for few years., But the truth was Babu, a trained LTTE Suicide bomber was brought to Colombo by none other than late President’s very trustworthy friend and Ministry & Treasury Secretary Mr. Paskaralingam, when he was the Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Construction, before assuming duties as the Secretary to the Treasury. |
